The White House has fired a teleprompter operator who placed bets on the content of speeches by American leader Donald Trump. This was announced on July 16 by the press secretary of the administration, Caroline Leavitt.

According to her, the US president was concerned about media reports that one of the employees providing the teleprompter had earned over $100,000 on forecasts regarding his speeches. In this regard, the administration notified the Kalshi online platform of suspicious activity.

"They conducted a check, identified this man, and he no longer works at the White House," The Hill quoted Leavitt as saying.

She stressed that the decision to dismiss the specialist was made personally by Trump. At the same time, the spokeswoman explained that during the address to fellow citizens at 21:00 (04:00 Moscow time on July 17), the owner of the White House will continue to use the teleprompter, but another employee will manage the equipment.
