Rubio promised to eliminate the International Criminal Court

On July 13, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio promised to eliminate the International Criminal Court (ICC).

"Using all the tools at the disposal of our government, and working with all the allies with whom we can join forces, we will eliminate the ICC, brick by brick, if necessary," Rubio quotes CNN.

According to the Secretary of State, the court is waging war against the United States not with bullets or missiles, but with the help of the force of so-called international law. Rubio also warned that countries that refuse to reject the false authority of the ICC, but at the same time rely on the help of the United States, may come under increased control.

Rubio also accused the International Criminal Court (ICC) of fomenting war against Washington on July 13. In turn, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, positively assessed the US intention to take measures against the ICC. He noted that he considers Washington's position to be directed against the extraterritorial application of law and attempts to impose decisions on other states.

On January 10, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill to impose sanctions against the International Criminal Court in the event of its proceedings against the United States and its allies. It was clarified that the project was supported by 243 members of the lower house of Congress, 140 opposed.

The financial sanctions imposed on the ICC by US President Donald Trump became known on February 7, 2025. According to Trump, the actions of this court are "an encroachment on the sovereignty of the United States" and "undermine the government's most important work in the field of national security and foreign policy." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for this decision.
