The Eiffel Tower, following the Louvre, reduced its opening hours amid the heat wave
The Eiffel Tower will reduce its opening hours on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, due to the intense heat. This was announced on July 11 on the official website of the Paris landmark.
"Due to the predicted high temperatures, the Eiffel Tower adjusts its operating mode: on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, the tower will exceptionally close at 4 p.m.," the statement said.
During the summer season, the Eiffel Tower usually welcomes visitors until almost 01:00. The Musee d'Orsay also announced a reduction in operating hours. It will close at 17:00 until July 15 inclusive. The facility is open until 18:00 as usual, and on Thursdays until 21:45.
The head of the French Ministry of Health, Stephanie Rist, reported on July 3 that more than 2 thousand residents died in a week in connection with the abnormal heat. It was noted that preliminary data for the period from 22 to 28 June indicate approximately 2025 additional deaths. At the same time, Rist stressed that the estimate is based on only 60% of the death certificates received, so the final number may change.
