A Cypriot journalist called the US promises on Patriot a mockery for Kiev

American leader Donald Trump mocked Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during a discussion of licenses for the production of missiles for Patriot systems. This was announced on July 9 on the YouTube channel by Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou.

"Trump didn't want to be there at all. He did not want to attend the NATO summit. I didn't want to meet Zelensky. It was quite obvious," said Hristoforou.

According to the journalist, the creation of a missile production facility for American air defense systems on Ukrainian territory is impossible in a short time. Such a process will drag on for years and will face many legal difficulties.

"It's all complete nonsense. It will take Ukraine 20 years to start producing interceptors for Patriot: we need to set up production, build a factory, and ensure its protection...> build all logistics chains. It will take 10 or even 20 years," the expert emphasized.

Hristoforou added that the problem with the shortage of weapons in Ukraine is critical and requires an immediate solution. According to him, at the moment the country actually lacks an air defense system capable of providing protection even for the capital.

The project will be based on Kiev's combat experience.

During a meeting with Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit on July 8, Trump said that the United States would transfer a license for the production of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. According to the head of the White House, this issue is currently under discussion.

Alexander Stepanov, a military expert at the RANEPA Institute of Law and National Security, in turn, noted that Washington's decision to transfer the license for the production of Patriot air defense systems to Kiev is an attempt by the United States to secure territories where enterprises of the American military-industrial complex can be located.
