Director Tartakov called producer Filimonov an irreplaceable person.

Director, screenwriter and producer Andrei Tartakov, in an interview with Izvestia on July 9, spoke about working with REN TV producer Vladimir Filimonov and admitted that he had taken the news of his death hard.

According to Tartakov, their first collaboration was the Operation Neman project. Filimonov controlled the literary material in detail and strove to achieve maximum quality in every detail of the production.

"We fought with him for every line, we fought with him. We didn't talk because the material was interesting. I wanted to make the best possible quality movie for him and me," said the director.

Tartakov added that he perceived Filimonov not only as a representative of the customer, but also as an equal creative partner with whom he could argue and defend his own position.

"It was a relationship of equal partners, and when you don't fawn, when you can defend your opinion, and you realize that you can be heard, well, it frees up the imagination," he stressed.

Together with Filimonov, such projects as "Operation Neman" and "Extreme Measures" were created. In addition, under his patronage, Star Media worked on the TV series "Smersh", "Zigzag Gang", "Smashing Ray" and "On the Trail of the Beast". At the end of the conversation, Tartakov stressed that "there are irreplaceable people in this field."

Colleagues of the TV presenter and director remembered him as a fighter for justice.

Theater and film actor Maxim Shchegolev earlier that day expressed his condolences over Filimonov's death. The actor added that it was Filimonov who approved his candidacy in one of the recent projects of the TV channel. In addition, Shchegolev called Filimonov the most creative person.

Filimonov passed away on Thursday, July 9th. His contribution to the development of Russian television production has become an era, and his filmography has included many landmark projects that have become popular with millions of viewers.

Among the producer's works are such films as "Evil", "Operation Neman", "The ZIG ZAG Gang", "Varyag", "Fathers", "The Fugitive" and "Drastic Measures". He also worked on the projects "Operation Carpathians — 1, 2", "SMERSH.
