The head of Rospotrebnadzor Popova told about the novelties of food education
By introducing the "Traffic Light" system into the digital brand of goods, consumers will be warned about the excess of harmful ingredients in the products. This was announced on July 9 by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, to Izvestia during the forum "Russia and the World: Trends in healthy Longevity."
According to her, the new option will allow consumers to receive information about the excess sugar, salt or fat content in products using a smartphone. To do this, it is enough for the user to point the gadget's camera at the code of the Honest Sign system.
"By pointing any of your gadgets at the "Honest Sign" marking on a product, you can immediately see in the colors of the traffic light how carefully you need to approach a particular product?" — She said.
On June 20, Boris Chernyshov, Vice Speaker of the State Duma, sent an appeal to Popova, suggesting that control over the practice of "pseudo-healthy lifestyle" in food labeling should be strengthened. In his opinion, manufacturers are increasingly using citizens' interest in healthy eating for marketing purposes, placing phrases like "healthy product" or "ideal composition" on packages.
