- Russian scientist Artyom Oganov received the International scientific Prize of China
On July 8, Artyom Oganov, Distinguished Professor of Skoltech, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the European Academy, received the International State Prize of China in the field of science and technology. The award was personally presented to the scientist by Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was announced by Oganov himself in his Telegram channel.
According to the scientist, this prize is awarded every two years to no more than 10 laureates. This year, nine people have won the award. Past laureates have included six Nobel laureates, and this year's prize was also awarded to chemist and Nobel laureate Jean-Marie Lehn.
Oganov noted that this year's awardees were dominated by chemists and materials scientists, calling this evidence of a new stage in the development of chemical sciences. He also stressed that he considers the International State Prize of China in the field of science and technology to be the most prestigious scientific award in the country and the most significant one he has received.
Oganov is one of the founders of the field of computer-aided design of new materials and an honored professor at Skoltech.
In April, an award ceremony for the laureates of the Women of Russia Award was held in Moscow. The award recognized achievements in science, art, business and other fields. More than two hundred participants reached the final. Among the laureates is Assel Belavina, who at the age of 24 developed drilling technology that is successfully used in the oil industry.
