- Peskov urged Zelensky to withdraw the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the regions of Russia
Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky must withdraw the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the regions of Russia and de jure recognize the realities. This was stated on July 7 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the Swiss magazine Weltwoche.
"He (Zelensky. — Ed.) can still stop the war by making a very responsible decision — to withdraw its troops from Donbass, from the regions that are now Russian regions, to recognize the de facto situation de jure," Peskov said.
A spokesman for the Russian president noted that in this case, the fighting would end "the next day." He also recalled that Zelensky came to power in Ukraine in 2019 and promised to stop the fighting.
Peskov said on June 2 that the conflict in Ukraine could be completed before the end of the day — for this Zelensky needs to give an order to the Armed Forces to leave the territory of the Russian regions.
Finnish politician Armando Mema, a member of the Freedom Alliance party, in turn, called on Zelensky to listen to "people who stand for peace" and end the conflict now. According to the politician, Europe is not able to provide Ukraine with the necessary amount of assistance to continue the conflict.
