The State Duma proposed using the maternity capital for housing repairs

The New People faction, led by State Duma Deputy Speaker Vladislav Davankov, has submitted to parliament a bill proposing to allow the use of maternity capital funds for housing repairs. The relevant document was published on July 7 on the Internet portal of the legislative support system.

The authors of the initiative propose to amend the law on additional measures of state support for families with children. If adopted, the law will allow the mother capital's funds to be used to pay for housing repair and construction services.

The explanatory note notes that the bill provides for conditions and restrictions that should prevent misuse of funds and ensure the quality of repair work, adds "Газета.Ru ".

It clarifies that the adoption of the initiative will allow Russian families to use maternity capital to improve the living conditions of their children in cases where the purchase of new housing is not required or impossible, and the problem can be solved by repairing an existing house or apartment.

On July 5, State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin noted that the amount of maternity capital in 2027 could be about 767 thousand rubles for the first child and about 1 million 13 thousand rubles for the second, if the funds for the first were not paid.

In March, Nikita Chaplin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes, said that starting in 2026, maternity capital could be used to repay housing loans issued by microcredit companies that are wholly owned by the subjects of the Russian Federation.
