A resident of Dagestan was sentenced to six years in prison in a case of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization in Syria. This was announced on July 7 by the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the republic.

The woman was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Participation in an armed formation on the territory of a foreign state that is not provided for by the legislation of that state").

"The Khasavyurt district court <...> found Salavatova H.R. guilty <...> and he sentenced her to six years in prison to serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony," RIA Novosti quoted the text of the message.

According to the investigation, in 2016, while in Syria, the woman voluntarily joined an illegal armed group that was part of an international terrorist organization. She stayed in its composition for nine years, until November 2025, performing economic support functions, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

The court decided to postpone the execution of the sentence — the woman has a minor child. The sentence will take effect when he turns 14 years old.

On July 3, the FSB of Russia reported that department employees had detained a man who wanted to set fire to one of the railway infrastructure facilities in Pyatigorsk. The man had to make an improvised incendiary device and attack a railway transport infrastructure facility in the Stavropol Territory with it.

Then the criminal planned to go to Syria, where he wanted to finally join the ranks of terrorists. During the interrogation, the detainee confessed that, on the instructions of the Syrian curator, he was preparing a terrorist attack at the Pyatigorsk railway station.
