The State Duma proposed to increase the number of grounds for expelling migrants
The State Duma proposes to expand the list of grounds for expelling migrants to 45 articles. This was announced on July 6 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
He noted that this week the deputies will continue to consider draft laws aimed at improving migration policy.
"Taking into account the amendments received, the number of articles <...> providing for the expulsion of a migrant as a punishment will be 45," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
It is specified that the list of offenses will be supplemented by discrimination based on gender, race, nationality, language, age or religion, as well as disobedience to lawful orders or requirements of military personnel when guarding the state border.
According to Volodin, this will improve public safety and restore order in the field of migration.
Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on July 2 that Russia needs to take measures against migrants whose children are in the country illegally and do not attend kindergarten or school. According to him, starting in January 2026, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, regional authorities and local governments will be required to exchange information about such children, including information about passing Russian language tests.
