Europe needs to have a realistic idea of how much support the United States will be able to provide in the event of a simultaneous conflict in the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions. This was announced on July 6 by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Thus, the head of the alliance commented on plans to reduce the American military presence in Europe within the bloc. Rutte stressed that a clear understanding of the available resources would have a positive impact on the strategic planning of the organization.

"It's good for planning. <... It is important for us to assess what the United States will be able to provide within the framework of NATO in the event of a conflict in two theaters of military operations, for example, in the Indo-Pacific region and in the Euro—Atlantic," he said, the recording is available on the Sky News YouTube channel.

The day before, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted that the existence of the North Atlantic Alliance in the future is not guaranteed. He called on European NATO countries to increase defense spending in order to prevent a possible US withdrawal from the alliance.
