Searches have begun in the house of the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party
The house of Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia opposition party, is being searched. This was announced on July 6 by the party's press secretary Iveta Tonoyan on her Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
"Gagik Tsarukyan's house is currently being searched," the publication says.
According to Tonoyan, masked men from the National Security Service came to Tsarukyan's house. She also said that they do not allow even the politician's lawyers to enter the house.
In June, the political situation in Armenia escalated amid consideration of the withdrawal of the opposition Free Armenia Party from the elections. Representatives of the pro-Western political bloc Republika sent a request to the CEC.
The opponents' appeal followed open threats from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan against the leaders of the opposition forces. Another blow fell on the Prosperous Armenia party.
