A cable car with people in cabins in Nizhny Novgorod stopped due to strong winds. This was reported by a source of Izvestia.

"There was a strong wind, which caused the cabins to rock violently. In case of any emergency, the equipment automatically turns off the cable car," the source said.

The channel of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Nizhny Novgorod region reported that there were 16 people in the stuck cabins, including four children. Rescuers are evacuating passengers.

Olga Zaitseva, a tourist from Ivanovo, was one of those rescued. In a conversation with Izvestia, she said that she had spent two hours in a blocked funicular.

"We came to Nizhny Novgorod for one day and decided to take a ride on the cable car. On the way back, the cabin got stuck, there was some kind of malfunction," she said.

Olga Kuvshinova, another tourist from Ivanovo, noted that the bad weather took travelers by surprise.

"We were at the very top and suddenly a hurricane and a tornado started. I experienced the biggest fear in my life," the passenger shared her emotions.

About 50 people were stuck on a funicular at a ski resort near Dmitrov on January 31. The evacuation work took place using a three-wheeled ladder. According to preliminary data, no one was injured in the incident. Later, the prosecutor's office of the Moscow Region (MO) organized an investigation into the incident.
