During the celebration of US Independence Day, a fire broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York after fireworks were launched from its structure. This was reported by the New York Post (NYP) on July 4.

"On Saturday evening, during the launch of fireworks on the Brooklyn Bridge as part of the celebration of Independence Day on July 4, organized by Macy's, a fire broke out over the East River," the publication says.

The recording shows how thick smoke rises over the burning section of the bridge, and fireworks continue to explode nearby. In addition, two more sections of the bridge are reported to be on fire.

Eyewitnesses reported that at first they took what was happening as part of the show, but then they were afraid of a possible explosion. According to the observations of the newspaper's journalist, all the fires went out in about a minute.

The Politico newspaper reported on July 4 that the launch of record-breaking fireworks, timed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, could lead to dangerous levels of air pollution in Washington and have consequences for the health of spectators. Despite expert comments, the organizers of the U.S. Independence Day festivities have not issued any recommendations on wearing masks or other personal protective equipment for spectators who will fill the city center to watch the largest fireworks display in history.
