Hamilton wins sprint qualification for British Formula 1 Grand Prix
The driver of the Ferrari team, British Lewis Hamilton, became the winner of the qualification for the sprint of the ninth stage of the Formula 1 World Championship in the car class of the 2026 season — the British Grand Prix. The results of the races at the Silverstone circuit became known on Friday, July 3.
The second place in the protocol was taken by the Italian racer Kimi Antonelli, representing Mercedes. The three leaders were rounded out by Red Bull team driver Max Verstappen from the Netherlands.
The sprint race in the British stage will be held on Saturday, July 4, the start is scheduled for 14:00 Moscow time. On the same day, at 18:00 Moscow time, the qualification will begin, which will determine the starting grid of the main race.
The program of the ninth stage of the championship will end on Sunday, July 5. The main race of the British Grand Prix will begin at 17:00 Moscow time.
Mercedes team driver George Russell showed the best time on June 27 in the third session of the free races of the Austrian Grand Prix, the eighth stage of the Formula 1 World Championship. On the track in Spielberg, the British rider completed the best lap in 1 minute 7.096 seconds.
