Dozens of vials of testosterone were seized from a passenger from Turkey in Pulkovo.

Employees of the Pulkovo customs stopped an attempt to illegally import testosterone drugs into Russia, having found them in the luggage of a Turkish citizen. This was reported on July 2 in the press service of the North-Western Customs Administration.

"Medicines containing potent substances can be imported into Russia by individuals for personal use with mandatory completion of a passenger customs declaration and with the availability of documents confirming the purpose of these drugs," said Eduard Berezinsky, head of the Pulkovo Customs.

According to the agency, a 60-year-old Turkish citizen who arrived from Istanbul was stopped for selective control while passing through the green corridor. During the baggage inspection, customs officers found 36 ampoules and four vials of drugs containing testosterone.

The examination found that the seized drugs contain testosterone propionate and testosterone phenylpropionate, which are included in the list of potent substances and are restricted to movement across the customs border of the EAEU.

The foreigner was unable to provide prescriptions or other documents confirming the prescription of medicines. According to him, the drugs were intended for sports and were "vitamins".

A criminal case has been opened against the man under Part 1.1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the illegal movement of potent substances across the customs border of the EAEU. The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention. The sanction of the article provides for up to seven years in prison with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.

The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, reported on June 19 that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, together with customs officers, detained suspects in the illegal transportation and trafficking of potent substances under the guise of dietary supplements. Volk noted that Kolokoltsev gave an example of successful suppression of the activities of smugglers and traffickers of prohibited substances.
