The number of victims of the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo has increased to 438

The death toll from Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has risen to 438 people. This was announced on July 1 by the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of the country.

According to the ministry, 1,406 confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded, of which 73 have been identified in the last 24 hours. The number of deaths increased to 438 people.

"Medical care continues: 192 cases of recovery have been registered, 609 patients remain in isolation or in hospital treatment," the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The Guardian newspaper reported on June 6 that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claims that the Ebola virus may be on a "dangerous trajectory" and risks matching the record outbreak of 2014. According to forecasts, the number of cases of the disease may grow to 20 thousand.

The Reuters news agency reported on June 17 that the European Union will provide €493 million in financial assistance to combat the outbreak of fever in Central Africa. It was clarified that this amount includes the provision of medical care at the forefront of the outbreak response, humanitarian assistance in the Great Lakes region and Uganda, research on vaccines and treatments for filoviruses, as well as long-term work to increase preparedness and improve health systems.
