Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm Bosak criticized the help to Kiev
Krzysztof Bosak, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm from the Confederation of nationalists and Eurosceptics, sharply criticized Warsaw's unconditional financial and political support for Ukraine. He stated this on June 29 on the TV channel TVP Info.
According to him, the unconditional assistance and financing of the "corrupt government in Kiev" are "harmful and irrational."
"Unconditional assistance and financing <... Creating a corrupt government in Kiev is absolutely harmful and irrational," Bosak said.
He also stated that the Polish authorities, in his opinion, act "without regard to national interests" and receive nothing in return.
In addition, the politician claimed that the Ukrainian side had allegedly "driven Poland into a hopeless situation" and was showing disrespect for Warsaw.
Polish-Ukrainian relations deteriorated after the leader of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, decided to give one of the units of his country's Armed Forces a name in honor of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), thereby glorifying the Nazis. On June 10, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said that Warsaw opposes the proposal to transfer funds from the unblocked €6.6 billion from the European Union (EU) Peace Fund to Ukraine.
In turn, associate professor of the Department of Political Science at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Konkov, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that Poland refuses to finance Ukraine because of the glorification of the UPA. According to him, in this case, there were clashes between Polish and Ukrainian narratives in terms of mutual historical problems.
Eva Zajonchkowska-Hernik, a member of the European Parliament from Poland, said on June 29 that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was demonstrating outright arrogance against the background of assigning the name "Heroes of the UPA" to one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). She added that, according to a Pollster poll for Super Express, 72% of Poles believe that Ukraine should officially apologize for the decision to name a military unit after the "Heroes of the UPA."
On June 19, Polish President Karol Nawrocki stripped Zelensky of the order of the republic's highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, because of the glorification of the UPA. He, in turn, decided to send the award by mail.
