On June 28, Sergey Kovalenko, the head of the Ukrainian energy company Yasno, warned residents of Ukraine about possible power outages due to abnormal heat.

According to Kovalenko, every three degrees of warming in Kiev creates an additional load on the energy system of about 100 MW. The increase in consumption is associated with the massive use of cooling systems, from household air conditioners to climate control equipment in shopping malls, offices and factories.

"I hope we will be able to pass this period without significant restrictions. But <...> it is worth being prepared for different scenarios," he wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
