The European Union (EU) has allocated €5 million for emergency aid to Venezuela after the devastating earthquakes and activated a civil protection mechanism to support the affected regions. This was announced on June 28 by the head of the European Commission, Kaya Callas, after talks with the interim President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez.

According to Callas, within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, several EU member states have already sent search and rescue teams, firefighters and medical personnel to Venezuela to participate in the aftermath of the disaster.

"The EU has already mobilized €5 million for emergency assistance to the affected communities. We have activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism, within which several member countries promptly dispatched search and rescue teams, firefighters and medical personnel," Kallas wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The head of European diplomacy also expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and expressed the full solidarity of the European Union with the people of Venezuela. According to the latest data, as a result of a series of powerful earthquakes, the death toll has exceeded 1,400 people, and search and rescue operations are continuing.
