The Roscosmos state Corporation has proposed to start operating spacecraft with a nuclear power plant after 2036. On June 26, it became known from the draft decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the basics of state policy in the field of space activities.

"These include: <...> after 2036: <...> the creation and launch into outer space of vehicles using a nuclear power plant," RIA Novosti quotes the text of the document.

It is noted that the implementation of such projects will become one of the key areas ensuring Russia's technological leadership. The proposed document defines the strategic priorities of the industry, focused on achieving economic efficiency and national security in the long term.

The day before, Roscosmos reported that the modification of the Russian RD-0124MS rocket engine holds the world record for specific impulse in a void among all engines that run on liquid oxygen and hydrocarbon fuels.
