The Tagansky District Court of Moscow fined Apple 500 thousand rubles for repeated violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation. This was announced on June 25 by the press service of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction.

"A court in the capital brought Apple Inc. (Apple Inc.) to administrative responsibility for repeated failure to fulfill its duties as the organizer of the dissemination of information on the Internet. <...> An administrative penalty was imposed in the form of an administrative fine in the amount of 500 thousand rubles," the Telegram channel of the authorities said.

It is noted that the claims against Apple relate to Part 1.1 of Article 13.31 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty under this article is a fine of up to 1 million rubles for legal entities. It is not specified what exactly became the basis for the administrative violation.

Earlier that day, Apple unilaterally and without warning removed VK apps from the App Store. The domestic company's applications are not available for download and update on Apple devices. The VK press service told Izvestia that Apple's actions limit Russian users' access to in-demand services. Users will no longer receive push notifications about messages and important events.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted after the corporation's actions that the removal of Russian applications from the App Store calls into question Apple's reliability as a provider of commercial services. The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation called the removal of VK applications a politically motivated decision. The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova, added that Apple's decision was an arbitrary decision by the corporation.
