A wisdom tooth has sprouted into the nose of a 14-year-old girl from Yekaterinburg
In Yekaterinburg, the rudiment of a wisdom tooth sprouted into the nose of a 14-year-old girl. This was announced on June 24 by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk region.
According to the department, the teenager went to the hospital complaining of severe pain in the left side of her face, nasal congestion, headache and discomfort in the area of her left eye. The girl was prescribed a CT scan.
"It turned out that the rudiment of the wisdom tooth was not in the dentition, but in the maxillary sinus, completely blocking its normal operation," says the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk region.
The patient was promptly hospitalized, as a violation of the outflow of mucus led to the development of chronic inflammation. The girl underwent surgery: doctors removed the tooth along with the follicle, without resorting to external incisions and drilling of the upper jaw. Two days after the intervention, the pain disappeared, and a week later the schoolgirl was discharged home.
"The cause of such anomalies has not been reliably established and is extremely rare in medical practice. Therefore, just bring your child to the dentist to monitor the condition of the teeth during their growth," the regional Ministry of Health recommended.
The Rostov-on-Don City Emergency Medical Hospital reported on April 23 that a local resident, a 42-year-old man, needed emergency medical attention after he woke up with a pronounced swelling of his jaw and difficulty breathing.
According to the patient, in the morning he felt a lack of air and noticed in the mirror a strong swelling on the left side of his face, as well as difficulty swallowing. During the examination, the doctors found no injuries, but revealed problems with the teeth. In the hospital, the diagnosis was confirmed — the patient was diagnosed with an abscess of the maxillofacial groove.
