Peskov refuted the judgments about the BRICS plans to create an alternative currency to the dollar

The BRICS countries do not plan to create a single currency alternative to the US dollar. This was announced on June 24 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"As for de-dollarization, I want to repeat again that this is an erroneous judgment that BRICS is hatching plans to create some kind of alternative currency," he said during a speech at Primakov Readings.

Peskov explained that the association includes states that have faced restrictions on their rights or a complete denial of the opportunity to use reserve monetary units. According to him, it is for this reason that the members of the association continue the process of increasing the share of payments in national currencies.
