The measuring station for the Vostochny cosmodrome on Sakhalin will be completed by the end of the year.

The Sakhalin tracking measuring station, which is being built to support launches from the Vostochny cosmodrome, is 75% ready, and its construction will be completed by the end of the year. This was announced on June 23 by the Roscosmos State Corporation.

"The Sakhalin highway measuring station is 75% ready. This is a strategic facility of Roscosmos, which is being built in the Sakhalin region for the Vostochny cosmodrome. It will receive and process telemetry from Angara rockets and satellites," Roscosmos wrote on its Telegram channel.

The state corporation explained that the commissioning of the facility will increase the reliability of spacecraft and launch vehicle control, as well as expand opportunities for future launches. It is planned to complete the construction work by the end of 2026.

At the moment, specialists have installed four antenna complexes out of the nine planned. In parallel, the construction of a management module, a hotel and administrative buildings continues at the site. According to Roscosmos, the launch of the facility will create 100 new jobs in the Sakhalin Region.

Dmitry Bakanov, CEO of the Roscosmos State Corporation, announced on April 13 that the first launch from the new launch complex at the Vostochny cosmodrome, created as part of a joint project between Roscosmos and a private investor Novy Start, is scheduled for 2027.
