The law on new terms for forgery of medical certificates has entered into force in Russia.

Amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of the Russian Federation have entered into force in Russia, providing for tougher liability for forgery of medical certificates. The relevant document was published on June 10 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"Forgery for the purpose of use or sale, or the sale of a forged official document confirming the absence of a disease that poses a danger to others, <...> are punishable by restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years with a fine in the amount of five hundred thousand to one million rubles <...>, or imprisonment for up to four years with a fine in the amount of five hundred thousand to one million rubles," the publication says.

235.2 ("Forgery and trafficking of forged official documents on the absence of diseases that pose a danger to others") was introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In addition to these consequences, forced labor for up to four years may be provided, as well as a fine in the amount of 500 thousand to 1 million rubles.

In addition, the punishment for forgery of certificates of absence of infectious diseases is increased, it can be up to five years in prison with a fine of up to 1.5 million rubles.

In cases where the crime was committed using the Internet, official position, by prior agreement or with the aim of concealing or facilitating another crime, imprisonment of up to six years and a fine of up to 2 million rubles is provided.

If forgery of documents has caused mass infection of people or other serious consequences, the maximum penalty is increased to eight years in prison with a fine of up to 3 million rubles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law according to which forgery of certificates of absence of dangerous diseases will be punishable by imprisonment. It is noted that for forgery of documents on the absence of dangerous diseases when threatening others, the highest measure of restraint is provided in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years.
