Al Jazeera reported on Israeli strikes on Lebanon after the truce was announced
Israel launched strikes on Lebanese territory after the ceasefire agreement came into force. This was reported on June 19 by Al Jazeera TV channel.
"Israeli airstrikes and ongoing artillery shelling were reported in southern Lebanon after the ceasefire agreement came into force at 4 p.m. local time today," the publication said.
In southern Lebanon, at least 12 Israeli airstrikes were recorded in the areas of Kfar Rehman, Nabatiya al-Fawqa, Kfar Sir, Jabal al-Rafi, Al-Rayhan, Adshit and other settlements. In addition, artillery shelling continued in Nabatiya and the surrounding areas. The Lebanese Ministry of Health added that since the beginning of the day, 47 people have been killed and 97 others injured as a result of Israeli strikes.
Amid the escalation, Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir issued a statement. He called for more decisive action against Lebanon and said Israel must ensure the safety of its citizens and military personnel.
"Israel must make it clear to the whole world that the blood of our sons and the safety of our citizens is no man's land. All of Lebanon must burn. Our highest duty is to protect Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers," he wrote on the social network X (ex.Twitter).
On June 19, the Reuters news agency reported that Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement had reached an agreement to stop hostilities at 16:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time) on Friday, June 19. The correspondent of the publication noted that Israel and Hezbollah "are in a state of ceasefire" after the shootout that took place in the afternoon.
On June 18, US President Donald Trump said that Washington expects a complete cessation of hostilities on all fronts in the Middle East, including Lebanon, in order to conduct unhindered negotiations with Iran.
