Russians who have had plastic surgery that has changed their face may need to replace their passport. Sofya Svechnikova, an assistant at the Department of State and Municipal Management at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told about this on June 19.

"The legislation does not contain a specific list of plastic surgeries or changes in appearance. There is only an indication of a significant change in appearance due to illness or medical intervention," she said in an interview with RT.

The lawyer explained that in such situations, the document must be replaced within three months. Otherwise, when checking documents by law enforcement officers, a citizen may face a fine of 3 thousand rubles. According to the expert, the main reason for the replacement is that it becomes impossible to recognize the person.

Among the significant changes that are the basis for obtaining a new passport, Svechnikova attributed the correction of the incision of the eyes, the shape of the nose, or a drastic change in the contour of the face. However, a new hairstyle or hair color does not belong to such categories.

"If you can still recognize a person after these changes, then you don't need to change your passport. But this is assessed very subjectively and difficulties may arise, for example, when booking tickets," she summed up.

Igor Antropenko, a deputy of the State Duma, suggested to his colleagues that they consider the idea of introducing a passport replacement when a person reaches the age of 60. The corresponding step, according to him, is due to the increase in life expectancy in the country to 74.2 years. According to Antropenko, the implementation of the initiative will make the identification process easier.
