Rospotrebnadzor continues to assist African countries in combating the Ebola outbreak: the Republic of the Congo, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have transferred 7 thousand test systems for the diagnosis of Ebola Bundibugio virus. This was reported on the agency's website on June 19.

"In response to the threat of a new outbreak of Ebola caused by the Bundibugio virus in the DRC and Uganda, Rospotrebnadzor was one of the first in the world to develop and organize the production of tests for PCR diagnosis of this variant of the virus in four days. The tests were sent to the DRC, the Republic of Congo, as well as Uganda," the statement said.

The effectiveness of the development, as explained in the department, has been proven by both domestic and local doctors. Specialists have successfully tested it in the foci of the disease. After that, requests for the Russian test system began to arrive from other countries. Diagnostic kits have already been sent to the DPRK and Turkmenistan. In addition, a corresponding appeal has been received from the Tajik authorities.

In parallel with the supplies, the agency continues to train personnel in Uganda and participates in the organization of anti-epidemic measures. Russian specialists have trained more than 20 citizens of this country in the methods of working in the outbreak of dangerous infection and laboratory diagnostics.

The fact that the Russian Federation was the first in the world to develop a unique test system for detecting Ebola was reported on the same day. It was noted that the innovation is characterized by absolute diagnostic accuracy. According to Evgeny Cherkashin, head of the Center for Product Development and Innovation at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, this system is able to detect the virus even in the environment.
