To enroll in Russian universities, applicants must provide a passport, a school certificate or college diploma, consent to the processing of personal data, and a number of other documents. This was announced on June 19 by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

"Among the documents required for admission: an identity document - a passport, a document on education, consent to the processing of personal data, documents confirming special rights upon admission, documents confirming individual achievements, and others," RIA Novosti quoted the ministry as saying.

The department clarified that the documents can be provided in the original or in the form of copies, while their notarization is not required.

The Ministry of Education and Science also informed that documents in a foreign language must be submitted with a translation into Russian, and educational documents obtained abroad, if necessary, are subject to legalization in Russia.

It is noted that an applicant can choose up to five universities and up to five areas of study in each of them. You can submit an application and the necessary documents this year in person, by mail or through the Gosuslugi portal, while the deadline for admission is set by the universities themselves.

Dmitry Svishchev, a State Duma deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party, said on June 15 that the introduction of the "day of silence" is designed to reduce the stress level of applicants and eliminate chaotic changes in decisions during the admission process. The dates of the "days of silence" for 2026 have already been determined — these are August 3 and 7, coinciding with the dates of enrollment orders at the priority and main stages.
