Lavrov stated the preference of diplomacy in achieving its goals

Russia prefers diplomacy to achieve the goals of a special military operation (SVO). This was stated on June 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in his article for Politico Europe, which was canceled at the last moment by the editorial board.

"Russia prefers that its goals be achieved through diplomacy," Lavrov said in an article published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russian security on the western borders must be guaranteed, as well as the rights and dignity of citizens and compatriots, including the possibility of using the Russian language and preserving the Orthodox faith, the article notes.

Lavrov also stressed that the continuation of Western military, political and economic expansion is unacceptable, since this contradicts the principles of the emerging multipolar world.

Lavrov, following meetings with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on June 18, said that Turkey had expressed interest not only in providing a platform for negotiations on Ukraine, but also in bringing practical benefits to the dialogue process.
