Putin jokingly reacted to a hitch with an interpreter at talks with Cambodia

On June 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin jokingly reacted to a hitch before the start of a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet due to the lack of an interpreter.

During the beginning of the conversation, the Russian leader noticed that the interlocutor was not receiving simultaneous translation, and clarified in English: "Is everything okay? Is it functioning? No?". Then he asked in Russian if the Prime Minister could hear the translator.

After a specialist approached the Cambodian prime minister, Putin smilingly suggested that the translator was "tired." Upon hearing this, Hong Manet laughed.

"Can't you hear the translator? I went to rest, I'm probably tired," the head of state responded.

When the translator still did not appear, the president noticed that he had "gone somewhere," and one of the representatives of the Russian delegation added that "the working day was over," since it was already evening at that time. Putin supported the joke and laughed.

Later, Hun Manet suggested that one of the members of his delegation temporarily act as an interpreter, but Putin noted that it was better to wait for a professional. After a while, the translator came over, after which the negotiations began.
