The convicted rapist of Shurygina called the proposal for her protection a joke
Sergei Semenov, convicted of raping blogger Diana Shurygina, called the proposal to defend her in court a joke. He told Izvestia about this on June 16.
Semenov, who considers himself a victim of a slip of the tongue in a rape case, was released early in 2018 and engaged in human rights activities. On that day, the media reported that the man had offered Shurygina the services of a lawyer and was ready to help her out in a difficult situation.
"It was all said ironically," explained Semenov.
He stressed that neither he nor his family communicate with Shurygina or her relatives.
On the same day, the Troitskiy Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure for Shurygina in the form of house arrest until July 19. The girl was charged with Article 242 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal production and trafficking of pornographic materials or objects"). The girl's ex-partner, crypto businessman Svyatoslav Gusev, published a post in which he said that Shurygina was facing two to six years in prison.
