- The Ministry of Labor reminded Russians of the right to five days of pre-wedding leave
Employees can take up to five calendar days off at their own expense to prepare for the wedding. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation reminded about this on June 15.
"In order to calmly prepare for an important day, an employee can take a vacation at his own expense — up to five calendar days," the department said in the Maks messenger.
It is noted that the employer has no right to refuse if the employee has submitted a written application. These five days are not deductible from the annual paid leave. Even newly employed employees have the right to such leave, including those who are on probation (in this case, the probation period is extended by the number of days of absence).
The same five calendar days of rest can be taken at your own expense at the birth of a child. To apply for a vacation, you must write an application addressed to the employer with an indication of the reason.
In May, State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin said that vacation pay differs from regular wages according to the principles of calculation, and they can be increased in absolutely legal ways. The parliamentarian advised taking vacations in months with a large number of working days, in 2026 these are July (23 days), September, October and December (22 days each).
