Four members of the staff of the Iranian national football team have been granted permission to visit the United States after re-applying for a visa. This was announced on June 14 by the British television channel BBC.

"Four members of the Iranian delegation to the FIFA World Cup have succeeded in appealing against the denial of visas to the United States. However, 11 members of the delegation will not be allowed to enter the United States for their team's matches," the publication says.

The authors of the material note that a total of 15 members of the staff submitted a second application, but most of them were refused. After a second review, the team's analyst and representatives of the international department of the Iranian Football Federation were allowed to enter.

On June 7, Iranian diplomats called on FIFA to hold the United States accountable for "discrimination and pressure" on the Iranian national team after refusing to issue visas to staff accompanying athletes at the World Cup. On May 16, Reuters reported that FIFA Secretary General Matthias Grafstrom will hold a meeting in Istanbul with representatives of the Iranian Football Federation on the participation of the national team in the World Cup.
