Karapetyan's bloc demanded that the elections in Armenia be declared invalid

Representatives of businessman Samvel Karapetyan's "Strong Armenia" bloc arrived at the Central Election Commission (CEC) building on June 12 to file an application for invalidation of the parliamentary election results.

"We are currently submitting a statement to the CEC declaring the election results invalid," said Aram Vardevanyan, a member of the bloc.

According to him, the appeal is related not only to violations on election day, but also to the entire election campaign, which actually began on February 7. Vardevanyan also noted that even according to the OSCE/ODIHR assessment, these elections were worse than the 2021 vote.

The Civil Contract party of the current Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan won 49.81% of the vote in the parliamentary elections on June 8. More than 727,000 voters voted for her. The second place was taken by "Strong Armenia", more than 340 thousand people voted for it — 23.29%. The final results of the voting in Armenia will be announced on June 14.

On June 10, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to unprecedented Western interference during the elections in Armenia. According to her, the European Union has turned a blind eye to the observance of democracy in this country for the sake of a beneficial result. On June 11, CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan announced that the agency had invalidated the results of voting at one of the polling stations in the Nubarashen district of the capital Yerevan.
