Sakhalin announced plans to produce 5,000 UAVs per month for the needs of its
The enterprise for the production of drones in the Sakhalin region, after the launch of the assembly line, will be able to produce up to 5,000 drones per month. This was announced on June 9 by the press service of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District (Far Eastern Federal District) Yuri Trutnev following his visit to the region.
"Over the summer, the company plans to manufacture 8,000 drones. And after the assembly line is put into operation, the production line's capacity will be 5,000 drones per month," the envoy's website says.
The company for the development and production of drones was established on Sakhalin in 2026. The site has organized the serial production of Veles brand devices, which are used in the special military operation zone. During an inspection of the production, Trutnev noted that the company is engaged not only in the production of UAVs, but also in the search for solutions to counter such threats.
"The whole world is facing this kind of danger. We will have to find answers to these threats... Unfortunately, there is no such solution that could be applied once and for all and won. We will have to look for answers in dynamics, each time responding to the actions of the enemy," his press service quoted Trutnev as saying.
The company already employs 17 veterans of its military. As part of the expansion of production, it is planned to create about 50 additional jobs.
The governor of the Sakhalin Region, Valery Limarenko, said that the creation of a military drone launch site was an additional contribution by the region to support the participants in the special operation. He recalled that earlier more than 7,200 pieces of equipment, as well as over 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid, had been sent to the special operation zone.
"Today, Sakhalin residents and Kuril residents, together with patriots from all over the country, defend the western borders of Russia. Our obligation to the heroes is to provide all possible support to the front," the governor emphasized.
In addition, the development of marine unmanned vehicles continues in the region. Previously created by Sakhalin engineers, unmanned boats (BEC) have been tested with the participation of the Pacific Fleet.
The authorities of the region are also preparing for the international forum of UAVs "Wings of Sakhalin", which will be held on July 3-4. It is planned to present the latest developments in the field of unmanned systems and robotics at the event.
On May 25, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the commander of the Russian Vostok group of forces had informed Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov about the connection of UAV calculations to satellite communication stations. The head of the Department of Troops of Unmanned Systems (BpS) of the Vostok group stressed that as part of the recruitment for military service under the contract, the number of drone operator calculations was significantly increased. This made it possible to strengthen the group's fire capabilities to defeat enemy manpower and equipment.
