Vegas defeated Carolina in the Stanley Cup Finals
The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Carolina Hurricanes in the third match of the final playoff series of the National Hockey League (NHL). The match took place on June 7 and ended in the second overtime with a score of 5:4 in favor of the hosts.
Following the results of the first two periods, Vegas led with a score of 4:0. Striker Mitch Marner scored a hat-trick as part of the winners, hitting the opponent's goal in the 31st, 35th and 37th minutes. Tomas Gertl scored another goal in the 31st minute.

The score in the series to four wins was 2-1 in favor of Vegas. The fourth confrontation of the teams is also scheduled in Nevada, the game will begin on the night of June 10.
Both teams reached the Stanley Cup finals as the leaders of their respective divisions. Carolina consistently beat Ottawa (4-0), Philadelphia (4-0) and Montreal (4-1) during the current playoffs. Vegas' path to the decisive stage of the tournament included victories over Utah (4-2), Anaheim (4-2) and Colorado (4-0).
This final is the third in the history of both clubs. Carolina won the trophy in 2006, and Vegas, which has been playing in the league since the 2017/18 season, became champions in 2023. The current Stanley Cup winner, the Florida Panthers, failed to qualify for the playoffs this season.
