Ombudsman Lantratova announced the return of three families to the Russian Federation during the exchange at the border

Three families who had been on the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of the special military operation were able to return to Russia. This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova.

"These are the citizens of the Russian Federation who will now return to their families and friends. The office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation is in touch, we have already received calls from children, sons, and families who are very much waiting for their loved ones. And the citizens of Ukraine are also returning to their families and friends," she stressed.

The meeting of the parties took place on the Russian-Ukrainian border. According to the Ombudsman, five citizens also went to Ukraine.

During negotiations with the Ukrainian side, with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an agreement was reached on the exchange of lists of people wishing to reunite with their loved ones. The parties intend to continue working in this humanitarian area, forming lists of citizens whom Russia and Ukraine are ready to receive on their territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 12 that work between Russia and Ukraine on family reunification must continue. Tatiana Moskalkova, who held the post of Ombudsman at the time, noted that family reunification is hard work in the current conditions, since the border between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is closed, and the deadlines for citizens in need of assistance have expired.
