HeadHunter Director named industries that are not susceptible to AI replacement
Artificial intelligence (AI) will change the labor market, but in the near future about 40% of professions will not be affected by AI in any way. Dmitry Sergienkov, CEO of HeadHunter, said this on June 5 at the session "Labor Market 2.0: the Dictatorship of AI, the Transformation of skills and professions" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"According to our estimates, there are about 40% of such professional roles. <...> Simply due to the fact that at the moment the use of generative artificial intelligence does not reach the physical economy. And the degree of development of the same robotics technology is currently lagging greatly," Sergienkov said.
According to him, this is an area where there will continue to be huge competition and a large shortage of personnel.
"And, unfortunately, it is quite difficult to increase productivity in these areas using artificial intelligence," the expert added.
Sergienkov clarified that there is a small group of professions that will be completely replaced by artificial intelligence.
"There will be professional roles where 100% of skills will be replaced by artificial intelligence. According to our estimates, this is from 5 to 10% [of professions] over a five-year horizon. We are already seeing a big drop in demand here in terms of vacancies," said the CEO of HeadHunter.
Earlier in the day, Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, said that about 7.5% of labor functions in Russia can be completely replaced by artificial intelligence. According to him, the ministry has set itself the task of forming an exhaustive list of functions for each profession by the end of this year.
On May 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the replacement of low-skilled personnel with artificial intelligence is irreversible and inevitable. AI is already replacing junior staff in process automation, documentation processing, and software code development.
