On June 3, world number one Arina Sobolenko reacted emotionally to her defeat by Russian Diana Schneider in the quarterfinals of the French Open.

After the match, the Belarusian athlete admitted that she was experiencing a hard setback and could not yet cope with her emotions.

"No thoughts, no emotions. I want to retire from tennis right now. We'll see in a couple of days if I'll be back to normal," Tennis Majors quoted Sobolenko as saying.

During the match, the Russian made one ace, made one double mistake and made seven break points out of 20. Sobolenko served two aces, made three double faults and used four break points out of five.

On the same day, Schneider beat Sobolenko from Belarus and reached the semifinals of Roland Garros. Two-time Grand Slam winner and Olympic champion Evgeny Kafelnikov noted that Russian women's tennis has always maintained a high position in the world, and Schneider's victory was another confirmation of this.
