Russia plans to use a recycling fee mechanism to protect the domestic automotive industry from circumvention schemes related to the supply of foreign cars through the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was announced on June 3 by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

"As for the work to cover up the "loopholes", as our partners in the EAEU use solutions for the import of foreign-brand cars, we will respond so that our market is protected," he said in an interview with Kommersant.

As Manturov explained, the use of such "loopholes" is unfair to companies that invest in localization of production in Russia and ensure capacity utilization of automotive component plants. According to him, the country produces many models of cars in cooperation with foreign partners. If the conditions of technology transfer and localization requirements are met, such equipment is recognized as Russian.

According to Manturov, the share of cars produced in Russia in the domestic market currently exceeds 60%. Previously, this figure was 53-55%. The recycling fee is a mandatory payment for manufacturers and importers for each vehicle designed to ensure the subsequent disposal of equipment. At the same time, Russian automakers receive state compensation, the amount of which directly depends on the level of localization of production, she added. "Газета.Ru ".
