Moscow football club (FC) CSKA has extended the contract with goalkeeper and team captain Igor Akinfeev. This was announced on June 2 by the club's press service.

"PFC CSKA and Igor Akinfeev have signed a new contract until the end of the 2026/27 season," wrote the CSKA Telegram channel.

It is specified that the football player has been in the structure of the team for 35 years — since the age of four. The athlete is considered the most devoted football player in the history of world football.

The goalkeeper has played 929 matches in his career, of which he has not conceded a single goal in 382 matches. As a member of the Army team, Akinfeev won the Russian championship six times, won eight Cups and eight Super Cups of the country, and also won the UEFA Cup. Playing for the Russian national team, the goalkeeper won the bronze medals at the 2008 European Championship.

The day before, CSKA approved Dmitry Igdisamov as the head coach of the team. The specialist signed a two-year contract. The agreement provides for an extension option for another period of time. Igdisamov led the main team in the interim status after Fabio Celestini's dismissal, which took place on Monday, May 4.
