The media reported on the erroneous sending of drones by Ukraine towards Finland in May.

The Ukrainian drones detected in Finnish airspace on May 15 were sent by Kiev by mistake. This was reported on June 1 by the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat (HS), citing sources.

We are talking about the incident on the night of May 15th. Then, in the Finnish city of Uusima, sirens suddenly sounded, signaling an unmanned danger, as a result of which almost 2 million residents of the city were forced to seek refuge. Sources told the newspaper that Kiev immediately warned Helsinki about the accidental launch of drones.

The drones launched towards Finland carried explosives. Drones used for strikes are usually programmed based on the coordinates of the target and the coordinates of the intermediate points that determine the drone's route. Mistakes are possible here. This is exactly what could happen to Ukrainian UAVs, the newspaper notes.

The Finnish Armed Forces clarified that the drones never entered Finnish airspace. It is assumed that the devices could have been eliminated by their operators.
