Hartley left the post of head coach of the Lokomotiv hockey club

Canadian Bob Hartley, the head coach of HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, has completed his post and will move to the position of a consultant to the club. This was announced on June 1 on the official channel of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) team at Maks.

The club thanked the specialist for the work done and noted that cooperation with him will continue in a new format.

"Due to the expiration of the contract, HC Lokomotiv would like to thank the head coach of our team, Bob Hartley, for the work done! Today we are pleased to announce that our collaboration with Bob Hartley will continue. Next season, he will become a consultant for Lokomotiv," the club said in a statement.

Hartley took over the management of Lokomotiv in the summer of 2025. Under his leadership, the team became the KHL champion, and the specialist himself went down in history as the first foreign coach with two victories in the Gagarin Cup.

On the same day, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, by mutual agreement of the parties, terminated the employment agreements with 10 leading players of the team. They were goalkeeper Daniil Isaev, defenders Alexey Bereglazov, Alexander Yelesin, Rushan Rafikov and Andrey Sergeev, forwards Denis Alekseev, Georgy Ivanov, Artur Kayumov, Alexander Polunin and Maxim Shalunov.

HC Lokomotiv won the Gagarin Cup, won the trophy for the second time in its history, beating Ak Bars Kazan on home ice. The game took place on May 21 and ended with a score of 4:1. On May 21, the press service of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced that Daniil Isaev, goalkeeper of the Yaroslavl HC Lokomotiv, received the title of the most valuable player of the KHL playoffs.
