- Rospotrebnadzor stated that there are no risks of the spread of cholera in the Russian Federation.
The epidemiological situation of cholera in Russia remains stable and is under constant control. This was reported on May 31 in Rospotrebnadzor.
"There is still an unfavorable cholera situation in the world. Since the beginning of 2026, more than 78,000 cases of cholera have been registered in 23 countries around the world. The largest number of cases has been registered in African countries," the Maks messenger says.
According to the agency, there are no risks of the spread of the disease in Russia, and the situation is constantly monitored. To prevent possible imports, the country has a comprehensive "Sanitary Shield" system, which includes enhanced sanitary and quarantine control at the border.
It is specified that in recent years, there have been isolated imported cases of cholera in the country. A full range of anti-epidemic measures was carried out for each of them, and no complications were allowed.
On May 25, general practitioner Elena Aleksentseva spoke about the symptoms of West Nile fever. The specialist noted that they usually appear two to six days after a mosquito bite, but the incubation period can last up to 14 days. The disease is accompanied by fever, headache, muscle weakness, and may also manifest as a rash and inflammation of the meninges.
