The satirical "Cockroach Party" in India has gained more than 15 million followers on Instagram in a few days (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), surpassing the ruling party in terms of the indicator. This was reported on May 21 by The Guardian newspaper.

"The page has gained more than 15 million subscribers, far ahead of Narendra Modi's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has 8.8 million subscribers on this platform," the publication says.

The movement appeared after a resonant statement by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of India, Surya Kant, who during one of the meetings compared some of the unemployed youth to cockroaches.

The project quickly gained popularity on social media and became a form of protest against unemployment, rising living costs and dissatisfaction with the political situation in the country. The founder of the movement, Abhijit Deepke, said that the growing popularity of the initiative reflects the dissatisfaction of young Indians with the socio-economic situation.
