Novak announced the final stage of approval of the Power of Siberia –2 gas pipeline
The work on approving the Power of Siberia –2 gas pipeline project is at the final stage, and the parties are finalizing contracts. This was announced on May 20 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
"Work is underway, and, accordingly, the final agreements on specific contracts are already at the finish line between the companies," he said in an interview with the Vesti news agency.
Novak noted that political decisions on the project had been made earlier at the leadership level of Russia and China. The parties are currently conducting technical work and finalizing the preparation of contract documentation.
On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia and China had generally reached an understanding on the main parameters of the Forces of Siberia–2 project. According to him, the parties agreed on key issues, including the route of the future gas pipeline and approaches to its construction.
Putin noted that Russia is ready to continue to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies to China. He also noted that the countries are jointly engaged in the development of transport and logistics routes.
