Putin announced an unprecedented level of relations with China
Relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented level of development. This was stated on May 19 by Russian President Vladimir Putin in a video message on the eve of his visit to China.
"Currently, Russian-Chinese relations have reached a truly unprecedented level. Their special character is manifested in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, willingness to cooperate on a mutually beneficial and equal basis, and to conduct a respectful dialogue," he said.
Putin recalled that 25 years ago, in July 2001, Moscow and Beijing signed an agreement on good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation. According to him, he has laid a solid foundation for strategic cooperation and comprehensive partnership. As the President of the Russian Federation noted, the countries support each other in matters of the fundamental interests of the two states, including the protection of sovereignty and state unity.
Russia and China are also actively developing contacts in politics, economics and defense, expanding humanitarian exchange and "encouraging interpersonal communication," Putin concluded.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said yesterday that Putin would sign a declaration on the establishment of a multipolar world with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China. The parties will also sign intergovernmental, interdepartmental and commercial documents. They envisage the development of cooperation in industry, trade, transport, construction, education, cinematography and other fields.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on May 18 that the delegation that will accompany Putin to China will include deputy prime ministers, many ministers, as well as company executives. According to the Russian leader's press secretary, Moscow has "the most serious expectations" from this visit.
